Are you moving to a new city, a new state, or a new country? If you are, I know that it can be scary. So the question comes, how to make new friends AFTER YOUR UNPACK YOUR MOVING BOXES?

#1: Get a job ASAP and make friends at work.
Even if you are looking for a job as a training manager for example, consider taking a job as a waiter, or a construction worker until you find a long term job. This helps ensure that you have money coming in, it makes you less likely to jump at any opportunity that comes a long, and it helps you make new friends quickly.

#2: Read the Book, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway!
Moving can be scary. As you are unpacking your moving boxes, you may ask yourself…”what did I do.” If you find yourself in this situation ……well this book will help you understand your fear and decrease it drastically. This is an amazing book for anyone who is moving and unpacking their moving boxes to a new life so to speak. Once you read this book, you will have a lot more confidence to meet new people and make new friends.

#3: Get Involved with Meetup.com
This is an amazing site that enables you to put in ANY interest you have into the database and then be able to select from a variety of groups in the city you live in. You can automatically find other people who share the same interests. For example, type in dogs and you will find dozens of groups in your city of other people who like to walk dogs.
#4: Start Doing What You Love To Do Before You Know a Soul:
If you love tennis, then join a tennis club. If you love to write………go write in coffee shops and you will eventually meet other people.  Whatever you do, don’t get involved in ANY activity thinking that is a good way to meet people.

#5: Enjoy Your Life, Even if You Don’t Know a Soul.
Know that in time you will make new friends. In the meantime, enjoy the fact that you have some more time to get involved with your interests that you may not be able to once you social schedule fills up.

Happy moving!
