The cheap packing supplies and boxes are well priced, but they still need to be used properly. After all, if you use more supplies due to not understanding how to pack, it doesn't matter how great the price is as you will need more.
HOW TO PRESERVE PACKING TAPE:
Most people place far more tape on boxes than are needed. When using industrial grade tape, you only need one application of tape to secure the box and seal. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of tape and it will be more difficult to unpack.
DON'T OVERUSE BUBBLE CUSHIONING:
Bubble protective wrap is a wonderful way to protect delicate items and save money. However, if you attempt to use bubble on everything, then your cheap packing supplies will quickly become expensive. For example, things like plates and cups are far better to pack with packing paper, then bubble. If you conserve your bubble for items like figurines, then you will maximize your packing supply investment.

When you wrap an item in the paper, it also provides cushioning for other items that are beside it. Therefore, you have a two fold benefit.
It is not recommend to try and use newspaper as an attempt to have free packing paper. It is not only not sanitary, but the ink can get on your belongings.
MARKERS:
Yes markers are an important packing supply. After all if you don't label what is inside of your boxes, your movers will not know how to stack. You are buying boxes to help make moving easy, not for them to be a piece of art in your living room for months.
Also if you don't label what room they should go in, you will find a heap of boxes in your living room taking a lot of your time to transport boxes.
With markers, as a good moving tip, make sure to put the lid back on when you are not using. This will maximize the use of the markers.
