If you are new in a specific area, you can input a zip code and see all of the local schools that are available in that area. You can further filter this information to only see elementary schools, middle or high schools if you have more than one child. You can even say you only want to see the private schools, or schools that have a 10 rating.
You literally can be driving around with your agent looking at areas and find out the school that is located in that neighborhood!

WANT TO FIND API SCORES OF A SPECIFIC SCHOOL?
When moving with children, API scores matter. What I most love about this application is not only do I see if the schools received a “10″ Great School rating, but you can also see what the API scores are for a specific school. This is really helpful if you are out with a your agent looking at a wide variety of homes.
It is quite possible that two different schools both have a 10 rating, but one school has an API of 960 for the past year while the other is only 920. This may affect which neighborhood you want to spend more time exploring.
HOW CLOSE ARE THE SCHOOLS?
When moving with children, some parents are looking for a neighborhood in which their kids can walk to school. With the Great School IPhone application, you can easily do this. Input a zip code or a street and you will see all of the schools in that area. Perhaps you only want to know the elementary school, so filter that out and then see if that school is walking distance from where you want to move into.
